Drum Kit
The drums haven’t always looked the way they do now. It wasn’t until the mid-1800s that percussionists started to experiment with the idea of one person playing multiple instruments at the same time. The first drum kit as we know it today was created in the 1920s. Today, drums can be found in lots of different groups such as rock bands, jazz bands, percussion ensembles and concert bands to name a few!
Learning to play the drums
You can learn to play the drum kit in small groups or individual lessons. All students will learn about the drum kit, how to hold the sticks and will learn lots of different grooves in a range of styles.

Benefits of learning drums
Learning the drums will help to develop coordination and fitness, with the heart rate of drummers averaging at 140-150 beats per minute, and peaking at 190 beats per minute. It will also help to build self-esteem, and offers a wide range of musical styles

If you are looking for an instrument that will make you the coolest kid on the block, then drums are the instrument for you! You will play a fundamental role in all the groups you play in, and if you love making lots of noise then drums are definitely for you!

Registering for lessons
Lessons can take place in most schools during the school day or in our music centres across Berkshire. You can choose from group or individual lessons for any instrument. Once you have registered, our team will be in touch with options for lesson times to suit you.
