The viola is a stringed instrument which is bowed or plucked and member of the bowed string family. It is larger than the violin and has a lower and richer sound. Since the 18th Century it has been the middle voice of the violin family. The viola differs from most instruments as it primarily uses the alto clef. It is often the inner voice and plays many accompaniment lines. Most famous players Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Benjamin Britten.

Lessons are taught in groups or individually. Students need to develop good intonation, through singing tones on their instrument and develop a good relaxed posture. Practice is key to enjoying this instrument. Small regular sessions will help to overcome all of the hurdles which will come to be jumped.
