Come and Join our Youth Council

Are you aged 18-25 and passionate about music? Do you want to help shape the future of music in Berkshire while developing your leadership skills?

The Berkshire Young Musicians Council (BYMC) is calling for expressions of interest from individuals like you who are eager to shape the future of music making and learning opportunities for children and young people in Berkshire.

What We Offer:
• A Platform for Leadership Development: As a member of BYMC, you’ll have the chance to develop and showcase your leadership skills, working with and supporting the younger members of the council in bringing positive changes to the music making and learning opportunities for children and young people in Berkshire. You’ll also have an important voice in ensuring that the activity of our local music hub is meeting the needs of all young people in Berkshire today.
• Volunteer Opportunity with Perks: We commit to supporting the professional development of our youth Council members, through mentoring and support by our team, and flagging relevant opportunities as they arise.
• Opportunity for development into a Youth Trustee role. For the right candidate, we can support your development and progression into a Youth Trustee. In this role, you will be a member of the Board of Directors and, along with your fellow trustees, you will be developed and supported to be part of the highest level of decision-making. Liaising with the BYMC members and our Youth Engagement Lead, you will be able to ensure that the voice of our young people is heard and help to steer our future direction.

Who We’re Looking For:
• Experience in Music Learning: If you have any experience learning music of any kind, whether formal or informal, your insights are invaluable to us.
Age 18-25: We’re seeking enthusiastic individuals within the 18-25 age range who are ready to make a difference.

How to Apply: To express your interest in this exciting opportunity, simply email Josef McCormack, at josefmccormack@berksmusictrust.org.uk before the 1st of June, with your name, date of birth, your connection to Berkshire, and what you might hope to achieve as part of the Berkshire Young Musicians Council.
