Berkshire Music Trust awarded funding from the Prince Philip Trust Fund to launch a new bursary
In a concerted effort to support the musical aspirations of children in the community, Berkshire Music Trust is thrilled to announce a generous donation of £1000 from The Prince Philip Trust Fund towards establishing a bursary for students living in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. A similar bursary fund is already in place in West Berkshire, funded by the Greenham Trust and there is a need to replicate this across Windsor & Maidenhead.
The donation comes as part of Berkshire Music Trust’s ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of young individuals through the power of music education. With this injection of funds, Berkshire Music Trust aims to expand access to music education for families who may otherwise face financial barriers.
“We are immensely grateful for this generous donation, which will launch this bursary fund and ensure that every child has the chance to sing, play instruments and enhance their life-skills through music.” said Dawn Wren, CEO ” There has been a significant decrease in the number of students progressing through the grades to achieve the advanced levels and we have found that the affordability of lessons is one of the prime reasons that students give up. Through our bursary fund, we are proud to play a part in nurturing the next generation of musicians.”
The Prince Philip Trust Fund is a grant-giving charity that makes a real difference to the quality of life of people from communities across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. For nearly 50 years it has supported a wide array of local projects with funding, including but not limited to, supporting the arts and empowering young individuals.
Chris Aitken, Secretary and Trustee for the Prince Philip Trust Fund said; “Learning an instrument brings such a lot of benefits to young people. As such, we are delighted that, through the work of Berkshire Music Trust, we can help support more young people to access lessons and develop their skills in music.”
